Bought a second case
I started a local whiskey group and wanted to put our logo on these. Ordered the first box and was happy they all had their individual Glen box. Ordered the second time and they came in a different box that had them divided by cardboard inserts and no individual boxes like it states in the description and how I got them the first time. Not the end of the world but I would appreciate some consistency because I have to mail or deliver these after they get our logo engraved.

Good, but not quite the quality expected
Everything others have said about these glasses–good handfeel, nice weight, lovely clear sound, concentrates the nose–is true, but if you’re thinking of buying, there’s a few other things to note:1. The glasses are of somewhat inconsistent quality. For seven to eight dollars a glass, I’d expect a decently nice piece. Instead, I found rippling along the bottom curve (under the “bell” of the glass, where it fuses to the base) on every single one of the four. (It was almost unnoticeable on one, quite bad on another, and the other two were in-between. This set was purchased as a gift–and it was noticeable enough that if I’d had more time, I would’ve bought multiple sets and returned the bad eggs.)2. The much-lauded “The Glencairn Glass” etching on the bottoms is done in a pretty unattractive font (like something between “Harabara” and “Coolvetica,” look it up on google to get a sense). This made it all feel rather low-grade to me. Not helped by the fact that the text size is actually quite large when read through the bottom of the glass–think 10- to 12-pt font–and even larger when glimpsed sideways through the base (14 pt). I’d imagined a nice classic serif font, and a very subtle 6-8 point text size when read through the glass. As it is, I can’t wait for the etching to wear off as some reviewers say it will.I ended up keeping the glasses: they are still a good whiskey glass, and they feel pleasant and do a good job with the nose. I also love the small size–none of that unfortunate mostly-empty-tumbler look. So the caveats above weren’t deal-breakers for me, and I hope they aren’t for you either. But if you’re looking for a really perfect piece, it might be worth it to bite the bullet and get the pricier Riedel, etc.

Great if you Like to Smoke Your Bourbon First
Went on a Bus-Bourbon tour in Kentucky last year, and a couple of the distillers used these shape of glasses for tastings. At about that same time, I had bought a bourbon smoking kit (you burn small oak shavings, and get the smoke in the glass with the bourbon …..it’s a great experience), and these shape glasses work perfect for it. A whole new way to experience your favorite bourbon.

My new favorite Bourbon glass…
The quality is apparent…these glasses are small, most label them as “tasting glasses” but they hold more than they appear and are quite good as a sipping glass. They immediately became my go to Bourbon glass. Good thing I like them because getting them was quite a headache. First order was returned to sender for damage before reaching me…refund was issued and I reordered. Second order shipped then showed as “delayed”, a status that never updated and just dropped off the face of the earth, after a call to Amazon a third order was shipped (I held my breath as the arrival date was pushed back) but finally…success! I have no idea why it was such an adventure or where the breakdown occurred, hopefully unrelated to the shipper and the product.

4 glasses in a box intended for 6 glasses
As others noted, I received the 4 glasses I ordered in a box that had 6 glasses in it. The glasses look genuine and arrived in good condition. I had hoped to have a nice small box to store them in and to carry with us when we travel.

Nice 4 star whiskey glasses…easily made 5 star glasses.
I really like the shape, style and function of these whiskey glasses. I rate them four stars out of the box because when you set them on a flat surface, they’re a bit wobbly. With a sheet of 100 grit sandpaper, and a little elbow grease you can easily sand the bottoms to a very even, flat surface. Two or three minutes effort on each glass and they set stable and wobble free. Absolutely worth the price and the extra effort.

Deceived
I bought these for my son’s 44th birthday, because they are BEAUTIFUL. My son was over the moon about them and went into a long explanation (for my benefit and his wife’s) about how this is the best type of glass (and this particular brand) to drink whiskey/scotch from. However, I immediately had to apologize to him and make an explanation as to why the box states a set of 6 while there are only 4 in the box and 2 empty spots. I only expected 4 glasses, but this was not the right presentation for a gift. I contacted the seller and he directed me to another of his listings, saying that if I wanted the glasses in gift boxes the cost was a few dollars more. I believe that information should have been very prominent in the listing. I would have definitely paid the $ if I had been aware of it. The only thing I can think of is that when the seller buys them, a lot of them must arrive broken and this is how he sells them – 4 glasses in a 6 glass box. That’s fine, but please let buyers know that they will not be purchasing glasses in a box worthy of gifting.

No lids (caps?), but the rest is as expected
Caps (lids) were included in the description of the item, but are not included. The lids might have been in the two empty slots in the box, now filled with bubble wrap. Just a guess. Glasses are great! Right size and right feel. The company name on the bottom is barely visible. Actually, one needs to look really hard to even discover it! Not a distraction.

Enhance your enjoyment of single malt whisky.
I love single malt whisky & US bourbon. I was somewhat skeptical that this glass would greatly improve my enjoyment but I’m now a believer! The glass truly does allow you to pick out the subtle nuances more precisely. If you’re spending $50 and more on single malt scotch, why would you want to miss out on the nuances of each? The design of this glass is based on the traditional “nosing” glass used by master whisky blenders. The pinched waist holds the aroma and the tapering neck directs the bouquet up to your nose. The smaller opening keeps the air in the room from confusing your senses so you get a more precise “nose”. A traditional nosing glass has no cuts in the glass or other decoration because it would distort the color of the whisky. The Glencairn glass was originally designed for pub/bar use so it is a sturdy little glass. The bottom is heavy so it’s not easily tipped over and is easily grasped. It feels good in the hand. The only glass that would provide a better hand feel (in my opinion) would be a small brandy snifter. A sherry copita would also be a good substitute glass. The size of the bowl was designed to hold the “proper” amount of scotch which is between 35 & 50 mL or approximately 1.5 fluid oz. in a US bar. You pour the scotch to the area on the glass where it just starts to taper up. The photo on the box shows a “proper” pour. The opening is a comfortable size for nosing and drinking.Glencairn also sells a crystal version of this glass but I prefer this lead free version because it is sturdy. The lead free version can go through the dishwasher if you choose but I always hand wash mine so that I don’t get any soap or rinse agent residue in the glass. I find this glass to be the right combination of sturdy and elegance. And they make that lovely “ting” sound when bumped against another glass – “Slainte”!I also use this glass for drinking aged rum. It has the same effect on rum as whisky; makes it even more delicious. Some rum fans feel it concentrates the aromas too much because rum is not as subtle as whisky. For young rums, I agree but for older rums, I like using this glass for sipping/tasting.Glencairn does not manufacture these glasses in Scotland but has glass manufacturers in other countries manufacture them to their specifications. Glencairn designs, packages and distributes their glassware from East Kilbride, Scotland. There really is no glass blowing industry left in Scotland at this time. Each glass in this 4-pack, comes in its own box; perfect for gifting & also good for protecting the glass from shipping breakage.

What a difference!
Always enjoyed my bourbon with an ice cube but tasting the same bourbons with these glasses made a world of difference. The ability to smell and taste subtle flavors is amazing. Highly recommend you try tasting what you have been drinking in the past with these new glasses. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Good product, bad packing
1 star for packaging. It was packaged in it’s original packaging, which is a thin paper box with paper divider and no cushioning, plus a bubble wrap around, the packed in a loose box with 1 other item I bought. Needless to say, by the time I opened it, 2 of 4 glasses were shattered, with broken glasses in outer box. Amazon kindly immediate refunded me, letting me keep the surviving glasses, which was nice in quality. However, I still would wish for a set and will likely order it again, just not from Amazon due to my concern for packing.

Love the glasses, but these glasses were not individually wrapped and the gift carton is 2 simple cardboard boxes of 6 glasses with cardboard separations between the glasses. Not a selling or buying point in my opinion,

Caps (lids) were included in the description of the item, but are not included. The lids might have been in the two empty slots in the box, now filled with bubble wrap. Just a guess.

Love the glasses, but these glasses were not individually wrapped and the gift carton is 2 simple cardboard boxes of 6 glasses with cardboard separations between the glasses. Not a selling or buying point in my opinion,

Nice 4 star whiskey glasses…easily made 5 star glasses.
I really like the shape, style and function of these whiskey glasses. I rate them four stars out of the box because when you set them on a flat surface, they’re a bit wobbly. Two or three minutes effort on each glass and they set stable and wobble free. Absolutely worth the price and the extra effort.

Great Glasses!
Amazing little whiskey glasses. I’ve tried several others… I keep coming back to these. Sturdy and well crafted. Buy a set.
